Fasting

Hey!

How's the fast coming? I am really excited about it but really want to filet mignon! (-:

I would like to schedule a day or a chunk of a day for a fasting/prayer/game/whatever time with the team.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Mel

It has been good! Mine is fully getting underway this coming Monday and is going to continue throughout the year.

God has been challenging me personally to really step up my involvement in ministry at the RC and He is showing me places to do it as I have been faithfull to ask Him where! He had actually challenged me on this back in September, but I have been slow to act and had to repent for that.

Fortunately, I have leaders in my life who are willing to challenge me and "gently" kick my butt.

It is easy for me to get so caught up in life that there is little "vacancy" for ministry as if to say, "Hey, I only have time for this one area and no more".

Frankly, Christ deserves more than that from me. I can so easily invest countless hours in school, family, work- all important things. I want to give my best to each one and will do so at the cost of sleep, eating, you name it. But when in comes to ministry, I have not been as willing. "Why is that?," I have been asking. In truth, I should be more willing in ministry than anything else.

This is leading me to really examine my heart, motives and actions. Yes there has to be priorities for my family and school and work, but also for the ministry of the Gospel by which my own salvation was made secure. If I am not extending that to others, then I am failing and that has never sat right with me.

So, how is the fast going. It has been challenging my mentality and actions. Yet I am sensing the reemergence of a stirring in me that in all truth has been absent for longer than I would really care to admit.

Like pastor has said, it comes down to where you place your trust- in myself or in Him, in my timing or His, in my way or His. A change is coming in me and I am excited.

It would be great to have a writing day, afternoon, evening were people could write, present, get feed back on music. It probably wouldn't be mandatory, but for those who were interested, it would be great. Maybe at the house with the piano, guitars...though it would be great to have drums. Though we should wait till after the fast so there can be food and warm drink.

I know I have some stuff that I would love to get input on and some music without lyrics that maybe someone else would like to take a poke at.

Another idea would be to meet as a team in a more intimate environment at the end of the fast and give people the opportunity to share what God did for them, in them, you name it. Maybe you could combine this with the writing session. Or keep it on its own day and then just have a fun time together as a team with games, talking, hanging out.

Just ideas.

Wow, I love it, Nash! You have been in a season of learning and focus in a different direction. I am excited to hear you are "prompted" or kicked int he buttocks towards "vacancy!"

You have however, given each Saturday and Sunday which is no small thing! I believe there are bigger roles you can play on this team as well as whatever else God has laid on your heart.

You are a blessing!

OOOOOH I'm totally down for some hanging out/sharing what God has been doing in our lives. I would just like to say that the Worship lately has been like none other that I have experienced since I came to the church about 11 years ago. When I look out into the crowd, i just see every hand raised, people on their knees, people weeping, etc. and it's because of the sacrifices that we all have made. With this fast, I feel that something powerful is going to be hitting the Church in the area of Worship. We have only just begun to see what God has planned for us this year and I am sooooooo excited to be a part of it. You all are the best and I love worshipping with you guys and gals. Keep on living a life for Him and we will see breakthroughs like we have never seen before.

Much love,
Daniel
