Drink a huge energy drink -MONSTER has a great one with only 3 grams of sugars and 3 grams of carbs! hahaha..it's the blue can.

seriously though, I usually will listen to any new songs that we'll be doing the following service in the car ride out--as loud as I can! I'll also spend some time in prayer for unity as a team and clear communication between musicians, leaders, BGV's --the team. Some times I'll try to visualize different parts of the song and how we can make them fat, dynamic and intimate. I'll try to listen to the marriage that the bass and drums have in any of the new songs that are to be practiced that night as to effective communicate my thoughts to the rythem section. I'll also think of Terryl in a super man cape saving the world --j/k. WEllllp, there you have it!

Man...today of all days, I didn't get to post until tonight. Well, you are a worthy opponent Aaron...but next time:-)

For me, it is a combination of several things. You will find them below.

1. We pray in our car on the way coming to service to set the atmosphere personally. Often, Rachel and I haven't seen each other all day, Sydney is hungry and Terryn is mad about having to be stapped into his car seat. We have learned that we cannot afford not to set the atmosphere personally just for ourselves.

2. Sometimes I will listen to the new song, but very rarely. Instead, I have some "go-to", piano/organ/pad driven music/songs that always get me pumped and ready to play. "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane. "Mother We Just Can't Get Enough" by New Radicals. "When Love Comes to Town" by Herbie Hancock and Joss Stone. "Clocks" by Coldplay. "Cable Car" by The Fray. "Where the Streets Have No Name" by U2. These are just some of about 10-15 "go-to's" for myself and after hearing them, there is a smile on my face and my fingers are ready to run.

3. Invest in Someone. I find a person and tell myself, "Make them feel as if they are the most important part of my day." I leave smiling, they leave smiling and that transfers to what I am doing on stage.
