WANT TO WIN? CHIME IN!

The acoustic service went very well last week, any thoughts on different themed worship sets like that?

The themes typically come from the message series, however we could use ideas on how to portray them.

THANKS, TERRYL FOR POSTING THIS!

Loved the acoustic set! I think there will be opportunities to do this again with the new stage set!

Here are some other ideas:

1. Stage in the round. Do it acoustic, in the center of the worship center. The seat would go all around the stage. We could use of the the drum stages to get different levels and have fun. Couple of chandeliers hanging down.

2. TRL- We provide a list of songs that we are ready to go on (maybe 15-20), votes are tallied in the first five-ten minutes of service and that is the song list we go with. People would vote on their top three, and we could draw five from the combined list.

3. Reverse Worship- Songs get played at the end of the evening, we perform from the other side of the room.

4. Scramble Worship- acoustic guitars in one section, drums in another location, bgv's moving through crowd

5. Multiple Styles- one or two songs, played in 2 to 3 styles.

6. Dinner Music Night- smooth tempo worship set, while people have dinner...maybe throw in some original music

7. New Music Preview Night

THese are just a few ideas to get the juices flowing!

It would be cool to have an orchestra or a stringed quartet accompany us for a Sunday. Also a grand piano center stage for another accoustic night would be awesome! An 80's theme would be sick. Face melting guitar solos, hair, and a keytar.

Orchestra, stage in round, people texting in votes to songs are all super ideas. How funny is it that we have discussed these? I am excited to incorporate 'em!

The other ideas are great, too.

I removed a comment because we want to stay away from ideas that are talent showcase oriented and stick to praise and worship and supporting the Sunday message.

I am not sure about the worship at the end of service as it is a tool to prepare hearts to receive the word along with going before the people in battle. I wouldn't want to preach without our worship team worshiping before me! (-:

Maybe when we do our next stage change, we will consider having instruments at different parts of the room. Cool idea, Nash!

Good point on the worship at the end of the service vs. at the beginning!

Nash-I love those ideas!!! you are such a creative thinker! I love the idea of our church throwing out requests for songs that have impacted them or ones that they just plain love to sing.

So I thought that the acoustic set that we did was amazing. I've received feedback such as "that was so intimate and peaceful" and "There was such a thick presence of God in the room"...

Obviously "change" was created by our God for a reason. I personally love the idea of "mixing it up" every now and then to take people out of their comfort zones and teach them to worship and show them that worship can happen no matter what the setting is. So many people these days are stuck in 1 mindset or 1 element of worship. We have been called to be worshippers! Not worshippers when only a certain type or style is being shown or played, but to worship without regards to the style or setting. I personally get so caught up analyzing or validating a worship band's performance that I get taken away from tuning in to the heart of God. I'm learning to turn (and keep) my eyes on Jesus and to block out things that arn't "normal" to me about a worship set. We've all got one goal that is set before us and I think that by showing our church that our goal will be achieved in any setting will be such a good object lesson!

Besides, you are all overflowing vessels of talent that walk and minister with such poise!
