The Anointing

At worship practice this past weekend, we read a bit about the "anointing;" what it is, how to get/maintain it, what the Bible says about it.
"The Old Testament definition of the anointing: The special oil that was prescribed and required by God to be applied to the priests in order to set them apart for ministry in the house of the Lord".
What is it? His presence, His peace, His grace and ability on us - it's NOT us!! Talent might move and impress, but it's the anointing that breaks yolks, that brings healing and restoration! Two of the words used in the New Testament are 1)"Chraomai," meaning "To furnish or give what it is needed. To light upon or rest upon," and 2) "Chrio," which means "To be set apart for service, the divine enabling for the office."
What's our part? To pray, be diligent and integral, be set apart, live a life consecrated to Him, ask for it! As we seek His face, stay in the Word, continue growing in our faith, support and edify our team members and remain humble, we will experience His Spirit flowing through us and His anointing will be upon our worship. And isn't that why we're here??
Some scriptural references to check out - 2 Cor 1:21, Luke 4:18, Acts 1:8, Luke 3:22, Isaiah 10:27, Exodus 30:29-31
