EASTER CHOIR UPDATE

I wanted to let you all know we had choir auditions for our Easter Choir. They went well. Two additonl men! Yeah. That is exciting. I am also enlisting kids and teens. As many as I can! Let them know they just need to sign up...no auditions for them. We will contact them with the practice schedule (4 practices).

Like I said in a previous post, I am attempting to get a small string quartet for Easter. Who knows if it will work but sure would be cool!

As of right now, we are selecting songs for Easter and will hope to have them on cd (with parts) prior to the first practice so everyone can practice them. We have a simplified version of "God, Great God" that I still am hanging on to and hope to do. (-:

I would like all BGV's to be involved in the choir practices. I want to keep you leading and in front of the choir. It is not only great experience training your parts but also adds to the validity of what these people are doing. I appreciate your hard work! All the practices will be planned out and with the cd of the parts, it should be very smooth!

Please keep the planning and carrying out of this season in your prayers.

NEW SONG

Nice job with the new song. To those of you who listened to and practiced the song beforehand, you made practice go very smooth.

Audio technicians, your team paid special attention to the details which paid off. Aaron, thank you for your wisdom on sound, second service. Emily said your advice and tips were great. Audio techs, thank you for being so passionate to grow and excel. You truly allow God's word and song to be heard.

BGV's, thank you for your exhaustive study of the parts. Rachel, you were a huge help to all!

Musicians, way to worship on a new song. Although a simple song, I personally found it a bit difficult to stay in the pocket. (-: Pastor Jeff said Terryl and my keyboard were beautiful together in the beginning and end of the song.

I appreciate you all! Enjoying the journey with you.

WANT TO WIN? CHIME IN!

Okay, you have some questions from last week. Next Saturday, we are going to briefly discuss some of them. I have a number in mind. (-: Whoever is the ___ person to chime in with either a topic to discuss next week, feedback on "Jesus Is" or "Adonai" or in response to the previous questions asked in your section, you will win.

LOT'S TO CHOOSE FROM!

SHOUT OUT!

This week's shout out goes to Travis. Travis plays acoustic and sings melody.

This week, Travis was asked on short notice, to sing "Broken Road." He took it home on Saturday evening, practiced and came to church making a sound check happen. Nice job!

Travis, thank you for your hard work. You willingly make corrections, as needed. You are constantly desiring to learn. Aside from the ocassional...okay often distraction (-: (that was supposed to be funny), you are a huge support to whomever is leading. You are always willing to give feedback as well as jump in and tackle whatever outlandish thing I ask! Thank you.

His wife Gia is amazing so we know he is doing something right!!!

A Joke or Two!

Thought you would all enjoy this joke! If not, then read the following:

In no way are the story line, laugh lines, or punch line associated with or in any way express the written or unwritten views and opinions of RC Creative Worship, Pastor Melinda, or the worship team...unless you find it funny. No goats, onions, or pygmies were harmed in the telling of this joke. Have fun!!

If College Students Wrote The BibleThe

Last Supper would have been eaten the next morning -- cold.

The Ten Commandments would actually be only five -- double-spaced and written in a large font.

A new edition would be published every two years in order to limit reselling.

Forbidden fruit would have been eaten because it wasn't cafeteria food.

Paul's letter to the Romans would become Paul's email to

Reason Cain killed Abel: they were roommates.

Reason why Moses and followers walked in the desert for 40 years: they didn't want to ask directions and look like freshmen.

Instead of God creating the world in six days and resting on the seventh, he would have put it off until the night before to get it done.

The Israeli Archaeologist

An archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel and came upon a casket containing a mummy, a rather rare occurrence in Israel, to say the least. After examining it, he called Abe, the curator of the Israel museum in Jerusalem. "I've just discovered a 3,000 year old mummy of a man who died of heart failure!" the excited scientist exclaimed. Abe replied, "Bring him in. We'll check it out."

A week later, the amazed Abe called the archaeologist. "You were right about both the mummy's age and cause of death. How in the world did you know?"

"Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said, '10,000 Shekels on Goliath'."

d.Changes? What changes?
2. How do you prepare for music practice?
3. What is your favorite song to mix and why?

DRUMS/BASS

We want to hear from you!
Aaron posed these couple of questions. Please give us your perspective.
1. What are we doing to effectively syncopate our instruments—hitting the bass (root) notes with the kick beats, etc…?
2. What can we do to better the marriage between the bass guitar and drums?
3. Playing standard bass notes or a standard beat (simple, not busy) might not be that “fun,” but is it more effective?
We look forward to your responses!

ELECTRIC/ACOUSTIC GUITAR PLAYERS

This one's for you! Terryl posed these two questions. Please let us know what your perspective it.
1. When is the appropriate times to play leads?
2. Should all guitarists be playing at the same time?
Look forward to your response!

WANT TO WIN? CHIME IN!

The team wants to hear form you! What do you do to prepare for services?

The first person to post on this blog will be presented a prize at practice, this Saturday.

CALLING ALL BGV!

Question for the BGV's...

We all want to grow vocally. Please give us your thoughts on these couple questions:
1. Are there any areas of the voice that you would like to work on (vocal care, warm-ups, etc)?
2. Is there any information you would like to share or that you'd like to get some info about?
3. How do you vocally prepare for the service?

Can't wait to hear from you!

SHOUT OUT!

This week's SHOUT OUT goes to Naomi LaCoss! Naomi sings the low part as well as the melody. She also lends her make-up ability and makes (and sometimes she has to make the guys!) us all look great on stage.

The other night, as we were getting ready to work on a new song, I asked the bgv crew to share any notes they had made while listening to it the previous week. She spoke right up and shared with us. I appreciate her diligence and honor for the position God has placed her in.

Naomi, thank you! I love and appreciate your authentic concern for others as well as your faithfulness to communicate your schedule and thoughts...and the green tea lemonaide referral!

BIBLEMAN

Last night was phenominal! Last count was 581 attendees without any of the kids counted. It will most likely come out closer to 680-700!

Thank you BGV's for practicing with the kids on Sunday. It made a huge difference in the kids' participation as well as your stage presence. Weren't the kids on stage great? It was such a blessing to see the kids who ministered during VBS and how they have grown. The kids worked hard. Lori Nelson told me Cheyenne was singing at the top of her lungs in her bedroom, a week ago.

Big props to Rachel who coordinated the kids and finalized the motions and such. Thank you for your support and leadership!

Bibleman could not get over how loving, helpful and great our team was...from interns to staff. Everyone he spoke with was a blessing! Pastor Jeff and I are honored to lead such an amazing crew.

TUESDAY NIGHT PROPS!

Tonight, I had the privilege of leading worship with our team at The MFI Regional Conference. We ministered a few songs and God was so faithful to flood the place. Hands lifted, voices high and joy was in the house. Front the front row to the back, everyone was lifting the Lord up in worship.

Aaron, you have grown immensely in sensitivity to where the Holy Spirit is flowing and where the leader is directing. Thank you for your passionate pursuit of personal worship. It shows in everything you do!
Kevin, you are always a joy to have on stage. Your discipline, "real-ness" and humility is loud!
Travis, thank you for your support and leading out in the final song. Your voice has really grown clearer. You are an anchor.
Terryl, awesome job staying to the click. (-: Great connection in the song. I appreciate your purity and passion for God in private which reflects all over the place!
Rachel, you took care of your kids so you could lead with us. I appreciate you! Your attitude is one of support, humility, dissatisfaction with mundane and not "all-out surrender." You sounded good, even though you couldn't hear yourself!
Katheryn, You set aside your evening last minute to be with us. Thank you. We needed your high part! Your smile is heard in your voice. Thank you for your humility.
Zach, wonderful job leading. You lead and then melded back into the team. I appreciate your support, leading and gifting.
Justin, A big shout goes out to Justin for coming in and working the knobs to perfection for us!

I know all the props go to God! He is mighty to save, heal our diseases, fill us with joy, strengthen our hearts, cleanse our hands and so much more!

I look forward to JAM FAMILY NIGHT!

TAKE THE CAP OFF THE WELL!

This week, Pastor Jeff and I are at the Regional MFI Conference. We heard a word this morning that lept in my spirit for our team. It is a great step to the word I shared on committing our works, gifts and burdens to the Lord (Psalm 37:5, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.”) This commit is the same word Jesus used on the cross in Luke 23:46, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Wow! That’s is a huge commit. He placed His utmost trust in the Lord: His ministry, His life, His future, everything. When we individually and as a team commit (roll) our gifts and lives to the Lord, He shall bring our purposes to pass.

Here’s the word that was shared today…Genesis 29:1-8, “So Jacob went on his journey and came to the land of the people of the East. And he looked and saw a well in the field; and behold, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks. A large stone was on the well’s mouth. Now all the flocks would be gathered there; and they would roll the stone from the wells mouth, water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place on the well’s mouth…Verse 7 Then he said, “Look, it is still high day; it is not time for the cattle to be gathered together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them. But they said, “We cannot until all the flocks are gathered, and they have rolled the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.”

In order for the stone to be removed from the well, the shepherds had to come together, commit to one another. When they did, they were able to remove the cap off the well and water the sheep. The water was life-giving water. This is speaking about shepherds coming together and also applies to a team. As RC Creative Worship Team commits to one another, we will be well able to cause living water to flow amongst our congregation.

Let’s have fun this year! God a fun idea the team can do together?
